Bayou City Art Festival Downtown Held each year the second weekend of October, the Bayou City Art Festival Downtown is a permanent entry on the calendars of serious collectors and pre-holiday shoppers. Historic Hermann Square, with its fountain and pond, reflects the architectural beauty of Houston's City Hall and is the center of the festival. Streets surrounding Hermann Square and Sam Houston Park become an outdoor gallery featuring over 300 fine artists against the dramatic backdrop of Houston's skyscrapers. Each festival requires over 1000 volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly and your help is essential to the success of this event! Please note two important policy changes: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, who must be volunteering with them at all times. The Art Colony Association Selection Committee has chosen 10 applicants for the Emerging Artists Installation at the Bayou City Art Festival. Their work will be on display in Memorial Park from March 26 through 28, 2010. Emerging Artists is a site-specific art installation by Houston area high school students. The spring Bayou City Art Festival in Memorial Park becomes a showcase for local, developing artistic talent. During the festival, awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! BOOTH TYPE DESCRIPTIONS

Single booth--$425--10'2"x10' with 1 selling side (a 10' section across the front; booths abutting on both sides)

Corner booth--$575--10'2"x10' with 2 selling sides (a 10' section across the front and 1 along an empty side; no tent on one side of your space, leaving you 5’ of selling space on that side)

Double2 booth--$850--10'2"x20' with 2 selling sides (two side by side 10' sections across the front; booths abutting on each side)

Double3 booth--$1000--10'2"x20' with 3 selling sides (two side-by-side 10' sections across the front and one along an a side; no tent on one side of your space, leaving you 5’ of selling space on that side)

Double4 booth--$1200--10'2"x20' with 4 selling sides (two side-by-side 10' sections across the front and one along each side; no tent on either side of your space, leaving you 5’ of selling space on each side)

Island booth--$1000--10'2"x10' with 3 selling sides (a 10' section across the front and one along each side; no tent on either side of your space, leaving you 5’ of selling space on each side)

Tent: Single-- (10 x 10) $225, Double (10 x 20)--$275
We use a professional commercial tenting set up and taken down by the tent rental company. The tent is heavy duty and is weighted down with water barrels. When a tent is rented, the tent is erected for the artists with 4 side walls and then loaded out after the artist is packed up and gone. For insurance reasons, we do not allow tent rentals from outside sources.

ACA NEWS BRIEF: Art Colony Association welcomes new Board President and three new Board Members in February 2010

Art Colony Association (ACA), producer of the Bayou City Art Festivals, has recently announced Mike Piana as President of its Board of Directors. Piana has been elected as board president after serving on the board of the Art Colony Association for the past 12 years and supporting the Houston Arts Community for 15 years. His leadership will provide the board with professional guidance based on over 30 years of experience in corporate and entrepreneurial executive management.

Piana holds a BS degree and MBA from The University of Texas at Austin. He also owns both Larsen Oil & Gas U.S.A., L.L.C., and COR Rentals U.S.A., L.L.C., an oil field equipment rental company for the Americas.

New board members to ACA include: LaQuita Cyprian, Vice President of Business Banking, Capital One Bank, Italian-born Houston artist Nicola Parente, and Bien Tran, an Attorney with Strong Pipkin.

The annual, juried, fine art event boasts a stress-free outdoor gallery brimming with 300 artists working in 17 artistic media.
