Beaded Bracelets, Necklaces & Key Chains

inspired by Going Underground: The Jewels of Bernhard Schobinger (SEPTEMBER 3, 2026–JANUARY 3, 2027)

Families will explore beading using beads from a variety of materials including wood, stone, metal and plastic. They can create distinctive bracelets, necklaces or key chains in the punk spirit of Bernhard Schobinger.

WorldFest Movie Magic Lab: Make Your Own Thaumatrope

WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival will invite children to explore one of the building blocks of motion pictures by creating their own thaumatrope, a simple optical illusion toy that combines two drawings into a single image when spun.

Participants will decorate two sides of a cardstock disc using their own designs or simple movie-inspired prompts, then attach string or bands and spin their creation to see their images come to life. WorldFest volunteers will briefly introduce how optical toys helped people experiment with moving images before the development of modern cinema.

Arts District Celebration Station

Bring Houston’s creative heart to life with Arts District Houston! Families and festival-goers of all ages are invited to explore the district’s vibrant culture through a hands-on, family-friendly coloring activity featuring artist-designed sheets inspired by the murals, landmarks, sculptures, and historic architecture that make the Arts District truly unique. Just in time for the Fall 2025 Bayou City Art Festival, we’re unveiling Volume 3 of our beloved Arts District Coloring Book — alongside a curated selection of fresh coloring sheets, fun coloring stickers, brand new merchandise, and interactive hands-on activities. Festival-goers can also pick up Arts District Insider Guides and Arts District Month itineraries to explore even more creative destinations — just minutes away, right in the nearby Arts District! Located in the festival’s Active Imagination Zone, the coloring station will be hosted by Fresh Arts team members and volunteers, creating a welcoming space for creativity, connection, and discovery. QR signage on-site will link guests to more information, updates, and ways to stay connected.
