Tiny Dancer Designs

For our kids activity, we would like to have the kids create a costume for a dancer, using tissue paper.  We plan to have both a nutcracker - male dancer and a ballerina with a long flowy tutu as options for the kids to choose from.  We are then hoping to have a costume on a form so that the kids can see what a professional tutu looks like up close.  We will also have some ballet shoes and pointe shoes they can see and feel as well.  We will have music to inspire any kids that want to get up and dance and twirl around.  We would also like to have a bubble machine so that the kids can dance in the bubbles - which can even allow them to talk about the snoap that some companies to use to make it look like snow during the nutcracker (we actually use cut up white paper or plastic in our production).  We are hoping that all of these things will lend themselves to discussions about the artistry that goes into designing costumes, sets, effects like snow, as well as the artistry of the dancing and the live music.

Blueprints of Anatomy -This healing arts activity invites guests to create cyanotypes, or "blue impressions," an early photographic technique that uses light, UV exposure, and water to form images in rich shades of blue. Traditionally used to archive botanics and architecture, this activity combines anatomical and botanical imagery to create healing blueprints for reflection and connection.
